This is such a stunningly beautiful little book. I was so lucky to grow up with my parents reading it to me many years ago. Now I am an adult, but this little book has stayed with me, my favorite childhood book that is still on my shelf.

The delicacy, and tenderness of each image is truly unique, and can be felt in each page. Now that I am older I give this book to each of my friends who have children. I feel like I am offering them a calm, magical, mythic world to enter with their children and return to each night at bedtime.

The story is brief, but it packs a punch! The art is gorgeous. As a kid, once the story was read to me, I was able to "read" it again on my own from the pictures. The pictures are more like watercolor paintings, some pages have no words at all, just full paintings across 2 pages. The print is large also, maybe good for Grandma or Grandpa to read to the grandkids 😊
I read this book as a child so to be able to find it new on was great. I love being able to find anything on here! It’s an amazing story and I’ve always loved it.
Stunning art work and a wonderful story that delights young children and older as well. I had middle school students fall in love with it and several of my young nieces and nephews have loved it as well.

This is one of our favorite books of all time! Beautiful artwork and a simple story about nature. I read it to my son and now I read it to his daughter, my granddaughter 💗 A wonderful book.
I bought this book to add to my collection of books for when I become a grandmother. (No time in the near future). This was my son's favorite bedtime book when they were toddlers. Our original copy had water damage and since some of these books seem to be going out of print, I opted to pick this up now. Lovely story.
I bought this for my sons 31 yrs ago. I now read it to my grandsons (age 2,3). It is one of their favorites and ask for it by referring to the "pearl book". There are not a lot of words, but the pictures are soft, calming and soothing. The pictures, with their soft, flowy colors, carry the story without too words. It is great read at bedtime.
